On Saturday night, Grassroots Acoustica’s sponsoring our good friend Lilia Arbona’s team that's raising money for Alzheimer’s Association California Southland Chapter – Memory Walk.
For those who don’t know Lilia, she’s been a dear friend to many a singer/songwriter for a long time, having designed more than a few CD covers & gig cards for so many folks, and for Grassroots Acoustica in particular, she’s been donating her graphic design expertise every month since our very first show with dazzling posters that create an illusion that our little musical revue has a budget, always taking utmost care to make the performers look like a millionbucks.
Having lost her father not long ago, Lilia participates in October’s Memory Walk in his memory to help those who presently suffer with the progressive illness for which there is no cure – ah, but maybe one day.

Grassroots Acoustica #15: Ones To Watch Edition’ll be our inaugural event at the all-new Talking Stick Coffee Lounge on Lincoln @ California in Venice, whose stripmall edifice belies what a jewel it is inside – perfect for these kinds of guitarpulls. Grassroots Acoustica will hereafter assume the second-Saturday-of-the-month timeslot, a new kid on a roster of crown jewels carried over from the original establishment – not the least of whom are our very own Tom Gramlich & Byron Pfeifer, our artists-in-residence purloined from the old place’s 1st & 3rd Wednesday night open mike nights.
Special guest & founding member Jane Bolduc opens at earlier start time of 7 p.m. with the installment’s theme song. From the repertory cast, Lauren Adams & Cydney Robinson return to Grassroots Acoustica with original material as opposed to something cockamamie & random that I’ve assigned off my iPod. Except I’m going to retain Lauren & make her reprise Bruce Springsteen’s Tougher Than The Rest with me, which we’d worked up on-the-fly for August’s Paul & Joshua Zollo-hosted Bossbash. And if I remember my eyeliner & Bob Mackie, I think she & I will also reprise Baby Don’t Go.
Jamie Drake & Dafni make debuts to the series whose 14 no-cover cabarets have raised $8,068 for non-profit organizations serving metropolitan Los Angeles.
100% of any donations to our collection baskets benefits the Alzheimer's Association Southern California Southland Chapter - Memory Walk in observation of the upcoming World Alzheimer's Day (9/21) and Memory Walk (10/5).
For almost 30 years, the Alzheimer’s Association has provided reliable information, care consultation, education and support; increased funding for dementia research and is dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s.
